Description

This beautifully detailed reconstruction of a late medieval cuirass is modeled on a German original from the 15th century (ca. 1465). Made of 1.2 mm steel, it consists of a breastplate and a backplate.

The chestplate is equipped with three sliding lames (so-called faulds) to protect the hips, waist, groin and lower abdomen. The gorgeous, fully articulated backplate features a flared culet composed of three undulated, overlapping sliding bands that protect the buttocks. All elements are hinged on steel rivets. Both the front and back feature the characteristic features of the Gothic plate armours of the late Middle Ages (multi-layered look, ridges, filigree cutouts). For better corrosion resistance, the inside of the armour is blackened.

The two halves of the torso armour are fitted around the body and secured in place with adjustable leather straps and buckles. This allows for a snug adjustment to a variety of sizes. The straps and buckles are firmly riveted at shoulder height and at the sides of the back plate.

This fully wearable cuirass is ideal for late medieval and Renaissance settings. However, it is not only perfectly suited for the portrayal of historical figures but also a broad array of fictional/fantasy characters. Whether used for medieval re-enactment, LARP, stage or cosplay, this articulated plate armour will make your transformation into a proud, noble knight or warrior just perfect. And what’s more, it also makes for a great collectible or decoration/display piece!
