The Viking Age knife blade ”Haithabu” is provided with a tang provided, a so-called Erl, which is inserted for fastening to the wooden or bone handle.
For optical reasons, the Sword ”Haithabu” with its wrought rough was,black surface left, giving a rustic look of the knife blade and ideal for use in historical knives.
From measurements of the knife blade :
