Description
The hinge set was inspired by the model of the Viking hinge from Mästermyr, which was found on a well-preserved box of forging tools recovered during an excavation in Sweden.
Already among the Celts and Romans, chests and chests were often equipped with forged hinges made of iron and, of course, the sea chests of the Vikings and chests in the households of the Middle Ages were also usually fitted with hinges to secure the precious belongings.
The Viking hinge set consists of two hinges, a so-called hasp and a cramp, as well as 10 industrially manufactured forged nails in 3 cm length for fastening.
The dimensions are as follows:
– Hinge: 22.5 x 1.5 cm (individual parts 12 + 11 cm).
– Hasp: 20 x 1.5 cm (individual parts 11.5 + 9.5 cm)
– Cramp: 5.5 x 3 cm
The forged Viking hinge set is provided with holes of 5 mm diameter for fastening.
