The coif is well sized and covers the shoulders. It has an authentic square facial sector. This coif also has a triangular ventail which can be folded down. The ventail is padded from the inside and covered with leather and can be fixed with a leather lace. This kind of coif was common during the high medieval period, e.g. worn by Normans and Crusaders.
The BTW chain maille type: This particular mesh is composed of butted rings made of high-quality spring steel. Considering its excellent value at a fair price, it is perfectly suitable for unexperienced re-enactors who set store on good protection and solid quality. The weave is 4 in 1. This type is called BTW (Butted Tensile Wire). Although the natural finish allows rust to develop, it also gives the weave a genuine appearance.
